The North Haven Police Department suffered an enormous loss with the untimely death of Officer Laffin, who was involved in a motor vehicle accident while in pursuit of a wanted suspect. He was the first department member to lose his life in the line of duty.

On May 29, 1980, The North Haven Police Department suffered an enormous loss with the sudden, untimely death of Officer Timothy Laffin. He was a member of the Department for three years, and lost his life as a result of being involved in a motor vehicle accident while in pursuit of a wanted suspect. Officer Laffin was the first Department member to lose his life in the line of duty.
