Special Agent Donald Kleber, a 29 year veteran was assigned to the World Trade Center in 2001, as part of the evidence and recovery efforts. His exposure to the toxic air precipitated to cancer and he succumbed to the illness.
On September 11, 2001, Flights 11 and 175 crashed into the north and south towers of the World Trade Center in New York. Special Agent Donald Kleber was assigned to perform duties at the World Trade Center as part of the evidence and recovery process. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention established Special Agent Kleber extensive exposure to the toxins at the site precipitated and accelerated too choroidal melanoma in his left eye causing his death. SA Kleber continued to work for the FBI until 2006, when he retired.
