Officer Carias, age 26, had completed his undercover investigative duties as part of his assignment to the Statewide Narcotics Team, and was returning to the State Police Garage when he was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident. He sustained multiple severe injuries to which he would later succumb.

Shortly after midnight on March 20, 1982 Officer Marco Carias was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident while operating an undercover State Police car. Officer Carias had completed his undercover investigative duties, as part of his assignment to the Statewide Narcotics Team, and was returning to the State Police Garage at Troop G in Westport. While traveling on Sugar Hollow Road in Danbury, Officer Carias’ vehicle struck a pole resulting in multiple and severe injuries to which he would later succumb.

Officer Carias, 26 years old at the time of his tragic death, was survived by his wife, Gloria and his daughter Marisol.
