Officer Nichols was the first female officer in the State of Connecticut to lose her life in the line of duty. A 7-year veteran on the force, she was killed when she was hit by a car during a routine traffic stop.
Officer Nancy Nichols was killed in the line of duty on March 17, 1991, when she was hit by a car during a routine traffic stop. She was assisting a fellow officer in pulling over a vehicle that had run a red light when another car hit her as she was walking towards her patrol car.
Officer Nichols had 7 years on the force at the time of her death. She is the first female officer in the State of Connecticut to lose her life in the line of duty.
