Trooper First Class Walter Greene, Jr., a 28 year veteran of the Connecticut State Police, passed away on May 31, 2018. His passing was a direct result of his response and service in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack in New York City.

Trooper First Class Walter Greene, Jr., a 28 year veteran of the Connecticut State Police, passed away on May 31, 2018. His passing was a direct result of his response and service in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack in New York City. Trooper Greene was a member of the traffic unit and a K-9 handler in which he and his K-9 partner diligently searched through rubble at world trade center for several days looking for survivors and recovering valuable evidence at this horrific crime scene. As a result, Trooper Greene was exposed to the toxic fumes for several days and ultimately developed cancer and after a valiant battle with cancer, Trooper Greene passed away at home with his family by his side.
