Constable Frawley, a 6-year veteran, was dispatched to assist another officer with a disorderly patron at a local tavern. While struggling to place an arrested subject into a police car he suffered a ruptured blood vessel in his stomach, and died from his injuries after one month in the hospital.

Constable Frawley, a 6-year veteran of the Westport Police Department, was working on the evening of April 11, 1936 when he was dispatched at 9:00 PM to assist another officer with a disorderly patron at a local tavern. While struggling to place an arrested subject into a police car he suffered a ruptured blood vessel in his stomach. Despite surgery Constable Frawley died from his injuries after one month in the hospital.

Constable Frawley, an avid sportsman and athlete who played on the department’s football, softball and bowling teams left a wife and 4 young children behind. A grandson and great-grandson continue Constable Frawley’s legacy as Westport police officers.
