Trooper Agosto, age 27, of Litchfield, was a two-year veteran of Troop L, but was working with the Traffic Squad because of Thanksgiving holiday traffic when he was struck and killed on I-95 in Greenwich.

Trooper Bagshaw, age 28 and a four-year veteran assigned to Troop K, was executed in an ambush-style shooting after stopping at a North Windham gun shop to check the building. He interrupted a burglary at the store, and died of multiple gunshot wounds before he could use the radio or exit his cruiser.

On September 2, 2021, Sgt. Brian E. Mohl was supervising the midnight shift at Troop L, Litchfield Barracks. While out on patrol, the cruiser he was operating was overtaken from swift floodwaters covering the roadway which was created due to heavy rain in the area. Sgt. Mohl was able to report that he needed assistance, however he was not in his vehicle when responders arrived. Sgt. Mohl was eventually found farther down the river. Paramedics treated Sgt. Mohl, both in the water and on shore. He was then airlifted to Yale New Haven Hospital, where doctors officially confirmed his death.

Trooper Nelson was on his motorcycle pursuing two men wanted in connection with an armed robbery. Six shots were fired at him, with two bullets hitting him. He slowed the vehicle down, stopped in a driveway, collapsed and died.

Auxiliary Trooper Truelove stopped for a disabled vehicle on I-84. After directing the occupants to safety on the far side of the guardrail, he attempted to safeguard the scene with his strobe lights. Several minutes later a truck drove into his cruiser, killing Auxiliary Truelove in the crash.
